History of the IMVCA

Mosquito breeding habitat near Ft. Hall
The IMVCA was founded in April 2005 after the Idaho State Department of Agriculture and the State Health Department sponsored a mosquito control workshop at the Hampton Inn in Nampa, ID. So 2010 will be our 5th anniversary and we will have our spring meeting at the same location. We started with $600 which was the revenue after expenses of the first workshop. Our founding Board Members were Jack Bennett (President), Jason Kinley (Vice President), and Ed Burnett as Secretary and two at large Board Members: Kim Knerl and Mel Lee who was Director/Board of Trustees Chairperson for Edward's Mosquito Abatement District in Donnelly, ID.
Since that time, the IMVCA has continued to grow our membership and our expertise, and we have become a well respected organization within the mosquito and vector control industry. Our current membership stands at over 100 and we have the welcome support of 18 sustaining businesses. The IMVCA's spring and fall conferences and workshops have been fortunate enough to bring in some of the industry's leading experts in areas such as mosquito control, entomology, pesticide application, legal and political issues, West Nile Virus, and other vector-borne diseases. Our members stay in close contact with each other and often rely on each other for advice and assistance. We are very proud of our accomplishments to date, and look forward to continuing our commitment to excellence in mosquito and vector control within Idaho throughout the years to come.
